All of us here in Kansas City believe that Mickey should have won the Best Actor Oscar for his portrayal in "The Wrestler."  It's the best performance by an actor since Omar Sharif in "Dr. Zhivago."  Mickey's performance was soulful; he made Randy, the Ram's weariness of it all almost poetic. We are happy, however, that he won several of the other awards.  Keep at it, Mickey, and Hollywood, Mickey is a genius.

Comments: Thank you for everything you've done on behalf of the animals. I'm so, so sorry to hear of Loki's passing. It sounds like you gave Loki and her brothers and sisters a loving home and happy lives - something so many dogs never know. Just remember, Mickey - Loki will always live in your heart. Best wishes.

Comments: just wanted to say Im glad Mickey is represented so ably with such a great site!  He deserves it.  While I was rooting for him to win the Oscar (I still think he shoulda won), I have to admit, Sean's closing remarks were gracious and generous and added to my already considerable respect for the man.  Mickey Rourke rises again! (and I say, its about effing time!) 'Nuff Said!

Comments: hi there I dont know if this message will get to mickey but I just wanted to say that he is an inspiration to thousands of people who have had a difficult past, and the only message I seem to take from him is that he ripples hope through a some times hopeless world.  I feel he is an instrument from god to show us all from this platform he has established that with love and time given to another human being any thing is possible...and without it all things awful can be possible. I hope one day I get to shake his hand and thank him for showing me the light , when every thing seemed very dark. Some times dogs are better than people, like children their love is unconditional. Keep on mickey, you did good!!!

Hello from Houston Texas I am Joy and wanted to check in and let Mickey Know he is In my Prayers for I too Lost my Love of my life cradling her head as she pasted on the 2-12-09. Her Name was Amber she was our family dog however she was the first one to touch my heart and will always be the one that got in ... I have always admired Mickey for your way to be who you are and not be who others wanted you to be ... I am a Roman Catholic too ..I love the Faith and I loved my dogs and they were too the ones' that kept me going when I was not sure why I was still here ... as an artist ... Songwriter /Singer  lots of Words and Journals and Poetry ... I found the entertainment industry too challenging for me and I am a sensitive soul ... Just turned 50 on the 27th of January ... I felt after the Barbara Walters interview it touched my soul and the common threads we both had that Dogs had at one time allowed us to rethink why are we here and I too have what is called boxing syndrome from accidents and falls due to some disabilities as well as our faith and being Catholic. I am 50 i have never done anything with my writing except enter a few small poetry contest. I have much material in raw form I would like to find someone that wants it for if I get sicker I want someone to have it to maybe learn something from A Texas born and raised Hippie Chick who has dedicated my life til I became to disabled to helping others and serving doing care giving for family and friends pets and homes and found that Dogs are easier to relate to often time than people ... any way my heart is challenged after losing Amber she was a large Beautiful Yellow Lab .. she was even in a Art Exhibit at  The Art Car Museum in Houston in a show names Faces... self portraits ... it was a photo of Amber and I in the backyard in our place we used to play and she did not like her picture taken so it was one of the best pictures that we have of her I felt .. I ask her would it be alright to enter her and I since she was camera shy and she seemed alright or I would love to think so .. for me it was my way of showing all my friends that were running the art car museum at that time that this is the best self portrait with Amber for she opened a very closed heart and helped me to grow and get deeper therapy too ... May Peace be with you Mickey even if you do not want my writing I still wanted to let you know you are in my prayers and may you have a Blessed life and know you are loved ... And the Son God is well pleased with ... Sincerely Joy Gant

Hello, My name is Maragret and I would like to say how inspirational Mickey Rourke's love for Loki is. I too have a pendant made of my beautiful border collie, Blinky. I wear it with pride and feel her spirit is always with me. It's a photo of Blinky that sits on a necklace over my heart. So when I heard that Mickey Rourke had one of his beloved Loki I thought good on him for having the courage to demonstrate to the world just how much he loved his dog. I can't begin to explain or demonstrate my love for Blinky. Only I know the relationship and bond I had with her. I'm sure that Mickey is feeling the same thing. I miss my girl and I don't belive I'll ever get over her passing….she was my best friend…my canine daughter…………..kind regards, Margaret

I went to see the "Wrestler"  today and very much liked it.  Mickey really gave a wonderful performance. I wish him all the best in this resurgence in his career.  I think of his comment about being given this new opportunity he will not trip over that rock again that detoured him 15 years ago.  Have to mention the movie that I think of my favorite of his, "Prayer for the Dying".  Also I want to send my condolences with the loss of his little dog Loki.  They do become ones children and love you unconditionally.

Comments: I thought Mr. Rourke was phenomenal in 'The Wrestler" but more importantly he's a great person just by virtue of how he treats his dogs. I can so relate in that I have rescued Greyhounds, here and gone as Mickey said and they are my joy. I can also relate when my boy Thunder had a heart attack and I performed CPR on him but couldn't bring him back. I came across a little book of inspiration that I would like to send to Mr. Rourke. Does he have a postbox where fan mail is sent ? Keep up the good work, you rock.

Hollywood has a lot of influence, and today so many people have been in the dark hoping for some light. Hollywood needs Mickey Rourke and should remember him - against all hope he believed in hope - he kept on keeping on, even when there were unspeakable easier options... and survived above many "Stars" past and present. I thank Father Peter for being an excellent servant.  What a breath of fresh air. Thank you Mickey, for encouraging hope through Hollywood in today's world. Godspeed

Comments: So, Mickey's going to star in a film being directed by someone who looks at things objectively and realistically (Paradise Now)  The pairing of Mickey and  Abu-Assad should be an interesting one indeed. Of course, I'm SHOCKED Mickey is touching this subject matter, given his squeaky clean image and all (yes, I'm kidding) but somehow I think Mickey can pull off a role in an erotic drama.  Although, given his story, and that he's just gotten "back" into the swing of things after so many years of not being around, it's certainly a big risk for Mickey to take on this role at this time.  After all, most peoples' opinions are difficult to change, and I'm sure there will be those who will question just how appreciative he is to have been given a second chance when he takes on a film/role of this nature.  Perhaps not an issue for his fans, but this decision will certainly be on the minds of "those" in Hollywood.......On another note, I'm glad to see Mickey is taking Jaws on these short jaunts with him.  Being the owner of a "difficult" dog myself, and knowing how much they need that "extra" attention, Jaws spending so much personal time with Mickey can only help him to become more mature and, as the experts would say, "socially acceptable."   I'd love to see Mickey and Jaws do a segment with Cesar Millan (The Dog Whisperer)  Can you see Mickey and Cesar together?  Talk about two totally different ends of the spectrum!  One's all about balance, and the other, all about roller coaster rides and pushing it to the hilt.  It could prove to be quite, well, entertaining. Not that I'm at all a fan of American Idol, but when flipping through the channels, I heard about a contest they were running to design a cup for Coca Cola.  As a tribute to Loki, I signed up to enter the contest, and am working on my design.  I thought I'd rename their soft drink for them and change it from Coca Cola to "Loki Cola"  I thought too, I'd put a picture of Loki on the cup, and write in underneath her photo, It's what the "big dogs" drink."  What do you think?  Do you think Mickey would mind?  Not that they will accept the design, as it has nothing to do with American Idol, but when I heard about the contest the idea of doing this popped into my head, and I thought it would be a cute way to honor Loki's memory.  And who knows, the AI folks might actually like that someone tried something different and give it a shout out on TV!  Wouldn't that be a hoot! And the hits just keep on coming.....

Thank you girls for such a wonderful website dedicated to our beloved Mickey. I am so happy to see Mickey is back with such a powerful performance in The Wrestlers. What’s more impressed is when I read in his honest interviews about his misery childhood, his love to his wife and his late brother, his devoted care for his dogs and his sincere attitude about having regrets for his bad behaviour in the past and how grateful he is now to have the chance to show what he can do again. It makes me sad when I read he mentioned he won’t have children cos’ he doesn’t want them to live with some other men like he did if there will be a divorce of him and his wife. I can relate to that feeling cos’ my dad left me when I was very young. But Mickey I think you’ll be a great father if you are so protective to your future child.  I trust you have the power to avoid all the mistakes your father and your step dad did to you. The Oscar night,  me and so many fans worldwide were so disappointed you didn’t get that Oscar you so deserved.  However, you’re already the winner in our hearts. And I pray you have peace and happiness and along the road, you’ll meet more good people and be the inspiration to others. Cherish life and take good care of yourself.

I’m so pleased for Mickey and that he has found some CONTINUED success, 15 years later.  I loved him in 9 and a half weeks, watching him as a teenager and falling madly in love with his performance and him.  What a charismatic man, have always wondered if he would come back, and wow, The Wrestler.  What an amazing performance, and was gutted he didn’t receive the Oscar.  Love his new style and the beard…how sexy eh.  You go Mickey, and this young gal in England is following your every move from now on.  Thanks for making me smile.  Take Care…Big Hug!!

I am not quite sure how to "blog". I found your web site because I absolutely love Mickey. I am so impressed with him as a very sensitive, humble man.  This is a far cry from the person he was in the 1980's. I actually liked him very much as an actor, but not as a person.  I have been through a lot (am about his age) and have changed over the years and hopefully have become a better person. I would love to meet him, and just have a conversation about his adventure and changes. I found out halfway through my life that I am bi-polar.  It doesn't mean I am crazy, although it sure has felt like it at times. It just means I finally figured out who I am, and why I have done the things I have done. Thanks for putting this web site together.  I hope there may be a way to send an email to him.  If so, please let me know how to send one.

Get well lady, and know that you are in prayers, and so is the man, Mr. Rourke.  I expect an Oscar next year or two that no one in Hollyweird can deny or ignore anymore. Keep on keeping on, and God bless you all and Rourke.

Comments: Mickey – being born in the late 70’s, I was too young at the time to say I knew anything of you or your work in films. All I remembered seeing was bizarre media coverage of your switch to boxing in the 90’s. And yes I was one of those kids who saw “Harley Davidson and the Marlboro Man” – don’t ask me why. But last October I started hearing rumblings of  this movie, “The Wrestler”, and had to see it. They say movies are suppose to be a cathartic experience, but I left watching that movie time. I thought, “where the fuck did Mickey Rourke come from?” The movie, your performance, and Bruce’s song  stuck with me for days. I have been going back and watching your heartbroken and mesmerized at the same films – Johnny Handsome, Angel Heart, Barfly, Sin City.  And while you may have been out in the woods so to speak for 10 or so years, the work you’ve done stands for itself. The body of work you have created will stand the test of time – and that is the measure of an artist’s work. The build up in the press of your ‘comeback’ made a great story and a great angle for the Oscar(which I believe you deserved)but ultimately maybe the biggest reward and satisfaction out of all of this is that you have reawakened a generation of fans, and created a new generation of fans like myself that are appreciating your past work and looking forward to a future of more memorable performances. I wish you all the best – Peace, Tranquility and Goodwill

The Wrestler is the best movie I've seen in a long time, and his interpretation is sublime. You do not give the Oscar was an aberration, a real theft, Tonga. Comments: I just wanted to tell you how truly happy I am at your success with "The Wrestler", winning the Golden Globes, BAFTA, and your Oscar nomination. You deserve all the accolades that have been bestowed upon you. I have always admired you as an actor and your performances have been an inspiration to me. My favorites are "Barfly", "Rumble Fish", "Angel Heart", "Shades", "Sin City"(You were the best part of that!), and, of course, "The Wrestler". I also wanted to tell you how sorry I am for the loss of Loki. There's something so special about the love of a pet that nothing else can come close. Ever since I heard about "The Wrestler", I looked for every interview and news clip of you I could find. I truly admire and appreciate your incredible honesty, humility and great heart. "The Wrestler" and your personal story touched a major chord in me. My cousin, Chris Bell, wrote and directed the film, "Bigger, Stronger, Faster" - maybe you've heard of it or him? My cousin explores the world of professional sports, particularly bodybuilding and wrestling, steroids and what it means to be an american. He uses his family as the microscope under which he examines these themes. Chris and his two brothers were and are involved in weightlifting and professional wrestling - Mike Jr. and Mark were both professional wrestlers. This past December my cousin, Mike Jr., passed away. He was my age, 37. He had been struggling with bipolar disorder, drug and celebrity addiction for years. He had checked himself into a rehab clinic last year and was clean for two months. He was really beginning to feel a renewed hope and hunger for life as well as a renewal of his faith. One evening when he uncharacteristically failed to show up for a work detail, someone was sent to his room to look for him. He was found dead in his room. I still haven't heard yet what the autopsy report found. It seems he followed in the footsteps of our uncle Johnathan, a bodybuilder and artist, who lost his struggle with addiction. I don't mean to overwhelm you with all this. I just wanted you to know how much "The Wrestler" and your comeback means to me. I wish you much success for the future with lots of movie offers, more knockout performances, awards and money in the bank! You've been away too long and deserve all the best.  Above all, I wish you peace and true happiness. God Bless.

In short words, Mike baby i'm a very big fan and almost willin' to be the mother of your child( i'm joking). But yet you are still a very sexy man in my opinion, very ,,bad guy,, image, just how i've always liked my men to be. Congratulations for the BAFTA, and also i'm very sorry for the lost of your dog, i myself have one that got lost one day, and after 2 days of searching and crying my guts out over him, he came back by himself, and i love him very much. I'm looking forward to see your future movies. Love you Mike baby and i hope that one day life will give me the chance to give you a hug and tell you this in person. I wish you to be healthy because if you have that you can do anything you want with succes.

We are from a very little town called Gunnedah, so they are brought up on a little country farm and are always very nice natured and affectionate. If by any chance he would like to do this one day it would make her world to be able to do this, just e-mail me. Kind Regards

I’ve been a Mickey Rourke fan since Rumble Fish!!!! And yes he got totally robbed on the Oscar!!! (I’m also a Sean Penn fan but he just won because of the California politics about gays and gay marriage etc) anyhow…I find Mickey to be very sexy, despite what a lot of people say about his looks. To me he just looks Different than he used to. And how can you not love a guy who loves dogs so much!! (as I am also a huge dog person) And who thanked his dogs when he won the Golden Globe award!! How awesome!! I must say I’m very jealous that you have met THE MICKEY ROURKE in person!! I would give anything to meet him. I’m sure he’s the coolest. If you ever remember (which I’m not counting on) but next time you find yourself in his presence let him know that a girl from Rochester, NY thinks he is so sexy and the coolest person who would LOVE to meet him (I am going to NYC however my trip isn’t until October but man if I could run into him somewhere!!! I would DIE!!) Thanks for the website, it definitely is the best Mickey web site out there!! Keep up the good work!!!

Dear Mr Rourke - have been a fan since the 80's - and even then,  thought  how cool it would be to know you as a friend just friendship so as not to make you uncomfortable.  The  tears, tenderness and sensitivity you expressed so eloquently in "The Wrestler" tore my heart out - your love of animals and willingness to express it makes you stand out as a man.  I too was a wounded soul, so it's refreshing to see someone like yourself willing to answer raw questions about your life in recent interviews.  As I read on your website, "The Ram" was someone to invite home and offer a  home-cooked meal and conversation to- well, I believe that of you as well.  Looking forward to seeing you in other efforts - take care - P. S. The Academy members were schmucks for not voting you  Best Actor -my hunch tells me you'll be nominated again and this time, you will prevail !!!  Hugs

Comments: Hello, nice to meet you! I saw The Wrestler in Portugal, and loved it. It is one of the most touching productions ever made. I am 42 years old, so I feel that I lived and followed Mickey Rourke trajectory. He is the most inspiring actor because his life is real and hard, like ours, he is not a Holywood lottery winner. Alright Mickey! You are good news for mankind. I buy you a beer! Best regards,

Comments: Yahoooooooooooooooooo!  And other adjectives. I am thrilled that Mickey is in "Iron Man 2," and these other projects, so thrilled. I have been buying up Amazon starting a library on all his older flicks two or three at a time, although I have already seen many of them.  I just love the man's work and acting chops, he is amazing in even some of those movies, he might not be that proud of, there is always something fascinating to watch with Rourke.  So excited for him. And the more he is out there, the more he will get better and better offers, although, let's face it NO ONE ELSE won the Oscar but Mickey. Sorry, but he is the man!  That is still the most haunting piece of work I have ever seen in my fifty-some-odd years. Just amazing. Go Rouke, go! Grateful that I will be seeing you over and over again on the big screen and on the small screen (DVD's at home.) And ladies thank you, and many smooches for all your work and labor on his behalf.  I know he appreciates and we do too!  And get well, please!!!!!!!!! Get well. We love you!

Comments: I'm a new fan of yours. Being born in 1989 I was too young to know about you and your films. I watch WWE so I was really interested in seeing The Wrestler.  I watched it about a week ago and its probably one of the best films I have ever seen. You deserved the Oscar.  I'm so sorry that Loki died. My dog Max died this past summer. He was only 12. He was family. Anyways cant wait to see you on the big screen again. God Bless

Hi! My name is Janet Jones. I have just seen The Wrestler and thought that Mickey Rourke's performance was awesome! I have not seen even half the movies listed in the Flicks section I am sad to say.  But you can bet I will be checking out as many as possible in the near future!  I wish Mickey could have won the Oscar for his performance in The Wrestler. I think he is a very talented actor and I hope to see more of him in the future.  I don't know if he is ever sent any mail from his website, but I would like to wish him all the best. I am also so sorry to hear that he lost his dog recently.  I will keep him in my prayers and may all good things shine upon him. God bless

Comments: HI: this is a great site. I have been a Mickey Rourke fan since I first saw Pope of Greenwich Village. One thing I have noticed on a lot of sites are the different birth date years for Mickey…Some say 1952 and some say 1956,,,Not that it matters, cuz he is hot anyway, but just curious who has his birthdate correct. Great Job.

Love this site. I'm amazed by Mickey Rourke's life. I also had a horrible childhood and life for that matter until I met my husband 9 years ago. Now I have breast cancer. I also just lost may beloved cat "Roma" in November after having her for 19 years. She was with me through it all.. So I fully understand the love he had for Loki. I love seeing Mickey back on top. I'm rooting for him. It gives people like me, hope!

Comments: I want to express my respect for mickey rourke' s acting. I am a great admirer of him as an actor. though I do not know him as a person (and i know he is not ideal :-)) I believe there is a lot of him in the characters he played, the characters that had a great influence on me. I have been seeing films with mickey since early 1990-ies and I was always impressed. that is why I am very happy that mickey is back in business and I wish him with all my heart all best and I look forward to his next films that- I am sure of it- will be of great valuable as for film as for all people who appreciate real good and true acting.

Mickey Rourke and Marisa Tomei are fabulous in "the Wrestler." For someone who didn't really know much about wrestling, Mickey did an outstanding job portraying the realism of professional wrestling. In regards to his performance in the movie he hit the ball out of the park! This is the first movie that I've seen of Mickey Rourke and I look forward to more great performances. Marisa brought a warmth and a human element to the movie. I wish the movie showed nationwide. I drove about 45 minutes in heavy Maryland traffic to reach a AMC theater that was showing the movie. It was well worth the trip. Best of Luck Mickey with your future endeavors,
