Comments: After watching "The Wrestler," listening to Mickey Rourke talk about his life, etc., and having grown weary of this neutered world gone wrong, I realized what a gem of a human he must be - I admire his rawness and love his outrageousness.  Whatever choices he made in his earlier life that made things difficult, he still has that magical talent on film that rare actors have and it has been a real kick to listen to him lately.  Even now, you can catch his disdain for the "politics" of Hollywood/acting and I'm guessing it's tough for him, even now, to walk that walk and talk that talk you gotta do to seem a little less "dangerous."  He's now on my list of "fantasy people to hang out with for an evening if magic were real and I weren't just a plebe."  Folks like Mickey Rourke make the mundane everyday bearable!  I love the movies!  And actors! You gals do a great job by the way!

Comments: My interest in Mickey Rourke has been on the increase lately, but finding details on the internet usually means weeding through scads of garbage and gossip. Now I have your site. This is a refreshing change from all the other junk I've found. I haven't had the pleasure of seeing The Wrestler yet, but I think I'll be renting it this weekend. Thank you ladies, for bringing us the real deal on Mickey. I was very sad to hear about Loki's passing. There's nothing harder than losing a pet that has always been there for you. Mickey, I don't know if you read this guestbook, but if I'm ever in your neck of the woods, I'd love to buy you a drink. It would be my pleasure, since I'd have a nice piece of eye candy to look at ;)

Comments: First of all, I am scared as hell. This is my first post on the guest book. I sure wish Mickey could read it.
Mickey: You have been such an inspiration to me in so many ways. I have been dealing with past demons thru my faith, which has been a life long process. I am 57 years old now. When I hear to talk on a clips from UniquelyRourke.com I can connect with you on a personal level & I hope that is ok with you. I am a double amputee in a wheelchair, but that is the least of my problems. I am a recovering alcoholic, & recovering drug addicit, who had an abusive father. I am still an attractive  woman, because I have learned to love myself. I have 3 grown children & 7 grand-children. I have been married 4 times, & never got it right.
When I see you perform, you pull emotions out of me that I need to deal with. Thank You. I read how you got to your emotional places when you acted in FRANCESO. I am waiting for it to come in the mail. I have my box of kleenex ready.
I love you like a BROTHER, & I continue to pray for your peace of mind & the best in all you do.

Comments: Thank you for your wonderful website.  And the photo on the Guestbook are astounding as Native American Indians have much beauty and wisdom.
Mickey Rourke is a most gifted actor; I saw him in The Wrestler.  Mickey is embracing life and appears to be giving every opportunity his blood, sweat and tears.  Yes, he will win the Hollywood prize.  Yet, importantly after traveling a painful path; he appears to remain a kind, compassionate, generous, honest and vulnerable man.  How extraordinary that he has retained his inner beautiful essence.  And his outer essence glows with beauty as well. With warmest regards.

Comments: I've been a Mickey Rourke fan since Sin city. I'm a rather young fan (only 20), but the man is honestly one of my heroes. Ever since I caught him in Sin City, I've since purchased every film of his that I can get my hands on. He has so much ability as an actor it's amazing, and his story is rather inspiring to me. I've got a real messed up past myself, and it's inspiring to see a man that came from an abusive childhood could still make it to the top, fall and then come back again. He's inspired me to also be unashamed of the therapy that I've received over the years for my substantial list of problems. God is good. Praise God for bringing such a cool dude to this earth. best wishes to the wonderful people that run this website, and best wishes to the man himself. Peace and God bless.

Thank you so very much for letting me view your web site. I hope you don't mind me letting you know that until I watched the Wrestler I had no idea who Mr. Rourke was. I am not a big movie watcher, as you can tell by this note, if I have no clue as to whom this wonderful actor is. I promise to watch all of his past movies and ones that are still in production when they are released if you will forgive me this transgression. Again, thanks for letting me have access to your web site. I will look forward to seeing your future postings about what Mr. Rourke is doing. P.S. I am a animal rescue person who currently has three dogs( I had four, but unfortunately I had to have one euthanized because of old age and sickness) so not only am I impressed with Mr. Rourke's acting abilities, I am also pleased to read that he is caring animal owner.

Thank you gals for the updates, and that brilliant clip of Mickey's from the green room on Charlies Rose.  Just the most honest man.  We appreciate all you do, when you can do it, where you can do it, because we know it is for real and from his camp.  Pleazzzzzzzzzzzzzze pay no attention to the mentally challenged who want to know poo (doggie term in honor of Mickey) they have no business knowing or accuse you gals of silly things.  Real Rourke fans appreciate what you do and getting the low down when available.  We know it is something you do out of respect for the man/actor and regular human being, Mickey Rourke.  So hats off to you, don't let people wear you down with stupid comments.  You know the strange thing about the net is that people would never say the stuff to your face, they just write the most ridiculous things.  We love you gal and appreciate this site and the Roundtable.  Thanks again.

One of the things I learned were the MANY movies that Mickey played some role in that I never knew about. Now I have a new mission, to seek all of those out! I have admired Mickey and his work for years, and now I live vicariously through this great website. We all knew you deserved the Oscar, Mickey, it only means there are more wonderful things on the horizon for you! Thanks to you all behind the scenes, I appreciate it!

I have to say I knew next to nothing about Mickey Rourke until recently (and very recently, I learned A LOT from your site. Awesome job!)...I saw him on one of those "Where are they now?" shows and had no idea who he was but I thought the name was vaguely familiar (and ok, yeah he looked GOOD)...so I looked him up and realized he was in 9 & 1/2 Weeks (which I always loved, he was so sexy...yet sort of scary).  Then I heard about his Chihuahuas. Now I saw his PETA ad and realized he is into ADOPTION! That is incredible! It's fantastic for a celebrity to promote adoption, especially of Chihuahuas who are known for their longevity and strong personalities.  In over 7 years of volunteering at dog adoptions we see many Chi's looking for second, or even third or fourth homes. I have two adopted Chi's myself and they are my crazy tiny angels :) You gotta love any guy who says not to ditch the dogs for a chick (who is only goin to end up gone anyway), they are your responsibility and give unconditional love. Too true! Love this man!

I know I would never meet him, so having this web page I can catch up, so many thanks to your time and energy. I will be looking in every so often, I'm in the UK, so no chance of him coming over here, and I'm a 60yr old grand mother, so have'nt got the time, energy to go around the world looking for him!!!!! So thank you both for all your hard work, and please keep keeping us informed. Take care.

Comments: Hi Heather and Stephy, I want to thank you for uniquelyrourke.com - so much Mickey goodness. I've been a fan of Mickey's for 23 years - yikes that really does dateme. It wonderful to have him back, doing so well and looking great too. I am a professional artist, specializing in contemporary dog portraits.  For many years, I have wanted to paint Loki for him. The bond between him and his dogs is so beautiful.  I love seeing a real man who is not embarrassed by his love of small dogs.  As  MIckey
recently said "God bless small dogs and old women "  Who could not love him? I was so sad when Loki passed. She held on as long as she could and have left him when he was in a good place.  I now more than ever i want to paint Loki for him. It is a too bad, he doesn't have a mailing address for fans.  I understand why, but somehow, someday I am hoping I have the opportunity. Anyways, I just wanted to thank you for all the work you do on the site. I appreciate it. Keep up the great work. All my best.

Comments: Hello! My name is Lyubov. I am from Russia. Mr. Rourke, you are a magnificent actor. Your film «The Wrestler» has made on me indelible impression. In a film there is a scene where Rendi speaks with the daughter. I cried. I could not constrain some tears. In the end of a film many speak, Rendi was lost. But I do not trust. I think Rendi will live. At it all will be good. I saw your interview on the Russian TV. You are very courageous man. Thanks for your talent. Thanks for pleasure to see you on the screen. All the best!

Comments:  I watched The Wrestler last night for the first time. I had to express, in some public forum, how deeply I was touched by this film. I truly felt what Randy was feeling as he was feeling it. My heart was broken right along with his (I cried so hard!). That said, the film really inspired me to love more and judge less... the film reminded me how important it is to forgive... no matter how many times someone we love has hurt us or broken our hearts... indeed... some people we love are simply fuck-ups... however... much of the time... they do not intend to, or want to be. Forgiveness can alter much.

I have always loved Mickey Rourke's acting capabilities and his choice of offbeat roles. I admire him even more now that I know how deeply he has loved his animal children. You have got to love a man who wears his beloved around his neck as I do my cat children around my wrist on a bracelet!  My two pairs of cats during the last 39 years have been my best friends and now I am in the final bonding stage with my18 year old Tonkinese brothers. I have defended Mickey on youtube because some things are too sacred to joke about.(Please slap the idiot for me too Mickey.) Mickey's love of his Loki gives me the strength I need to tend to my own beloved boys in their senior years.  I have done two beautiful oil paintings of my guys and fully support Mickey defending his dog and wearing his portrait proudly. Our animals ARE our children especially when you have no children of your own. This fiery 55 year old gets it. Thanks for this great website.

Comments: Hi Gals,
Just wanted to say that I just watched The Wrestler and it was awesome. I loved it. The one thing that I admire in Mickey is that he really keeps it real. You don't have to conform and be a kiss ass. Real people have real troubles in life and they also have real acomplishments. He has a unique ability to project the message-"hey I've had some tuff times; but I'm back". I think it's friggin great and I was rooting for him all the way. I think he made the awards shows watchable this year. Anyway, way to go Mickey, keep up the great work.

Comments: I finally saw The Wrestler this evening and was so moved I have been crying long past the end of the movie. I am happily remarried, but my ex-husband referenced this movie several weeks ago, and now I understand his connection and why ge referenced it the way he did...not close to a wrestler in the literal sense.  He is Mickey's age, similar in looks and the path is so familiar and bitter-sweet.  I love my former husband as much as I did the day I married him, and yet the path that parted us is so similar to Mickey's actual life and this most beautiful movie. We all like the, lost and then found, comeback story, but I routed for Mickey in the movie and celebrated his cathartic comeback the way I celebrate the path and bittersweet ending of my former marriage.  Thank you, Mickey, for your humanity, for your art as an extension of your life. As with so many others, I celebrate the gift you gave to me tonight and the voice you gave my former husband thru your movie. There is so much beauty to be had in the process of life here.  I feel as though I have been tucked in tonight and all is forgiven. My
love to you for sharing your talent and your loss and your glory with me and with all of us.

I’m drawn to Mickey’s performance in the John Rich video for “Shuttin’ Detroit Down” (I love that song). I think it’s a testament to Mickey’s skill as an actor that he can flesh out a character using only a few simple mannerisms in a five minute story. I thought Mickey was wonderful in The Wrestler. I’ve known men like that, men who ended up alone, and Mickey portrayed it perfectly.

Hey girls, great website, stumbled across it tonight! Without doubt Mickey Rouke is the most raw and confronting actor to grace the big screen in many years – he has a f*cking kick-ass presence that no actor in Hollywood possess today (most of which are soft marshmallow-type pricks that couldn’t punch their way out of a wet paper bag). It’s great to see someone in Hollywood recognizes the unique, hardcore talent he possesses!! All the best.

Comments: It's nice that you are back and feeling better. That's always a hard thing to recuperate from. I enjoy reading all the Rourke news and stories and about the trip to L.A. on your website. I wanted to leave a message saying how much I enjoyed and appreciated seeing Mickey and everyone in John Rich's new video. I actually came across this website when I was laid off at the end of last year. While my situation can't compare to those in the middle of the country, I could relate to some of the lyrics of the song. A bunch of us were laid off the day after the big, expensive office Christmas party. None of us saw it coming. Even the guy who robs a bank brings a note. He's more on the up and up than these guys. I've been back to work for a while but still afraid that it could happen again. A hopeless situation, but there's still hope. That's one of the best things I've heard anyone say. So it put a smile on my face to see everyone in the video speaking up for those who don't always have a voice in this economy.
And then, I saw The Wrestler for the first and second time just recently. The movie was filled with so much emotion that it was hard to watch in places the first time through. The scenes with Mickey's character and his daughter were just a heartbreaker. Especially one scene on the DVD that's not in the movie. Obviously, you can't know someone from watching some interviews and movies, but it seemed like this movie had to wait for Mickey. His commitment to changing things for the better has been Mickey's "Title Fight" and he's winning.  How lucky for all of us who get to enjoy his work.

You know "Hindsight is a great thing, not least because with it comes the ability to be able to reflect on things that have happened and see them in a different light." I get the impression from the interview, what you see, is what you get from you. You have no airs or grace or bullshit about you.

Comments: I'm new to the whole 'celeb' website thing, but wanted to let you all know that the website is very well done - a wee bit on the edgier edgy side for me, but remains an honest tribute to Mr. Rourke. It's a great place to catch up on what films he's working on, release dates and what's new on DVD. I also like the listings of non-profit organizations that need supporting - kudos! In my little area of the world, not all the big movies come to our coastal theater, so I usually watch them on DVD, but I was fortunate to see The Wrestler at the theater, and as always, he was outstanding in his performance (true to life or not) he is a great actor. He's definitely someone who's been beaten down and has risen like a phoenix. I first noticed him in Diner and have seen many of his films. I'm very glad he's back to film and look forward to seeing him on the big screen for many more years. Thank you Mr. Rourke for allowing the public - your fans, old and new - to watch the incredible characters you portray in film.
Best wishes in your success.

well, just finished watching the wrestler. i was certainly not disappointed in your performance BUT the ending was a total shock and definitely an assault on my senses! although, i immediately interpreted the final shot as a suicide, i suppose it is open to interpretation and we could see a sequel down the road. This was my first time to see any of your work, except for body heat, which who noticed the arsonist when all of that sexual energy was going on between john hurt and "what's her name". i might have to rent that. i wish you much joy as you continue your path of success and i truly believe what i'm saying. you seem to have grown and learned a lot over the last decade or so and are focused on the things that really count, i believe blessings will be many.  your love of "small" dogs got me tickled!  i am a dog lover but can only manage one. by the way, i love your face.  get rid of all that facial hair, pull your hair back, dump the shades and you are one very good looking man. you were never more handsome in the wrestler then when your hair was pulled back.  you own that face now and be proud you do.

I LOVE your website, your attitude and your honesty.  It's really refreshing and gives me a chuckle.  Thanks for keeping us updated as you can with news of Mickey.  And, most of all, I really wish you a rapid recovery from whatever is ailing you right now.  As for the ass-munchers, your letter was PERFECT!!!!

Comments: My wife and I agree (...and we did see the movie). We're pleased you got an Academy nomination for 'Best Actor' for THE WRESTLER. Your interpretation of the part was decidedly unique and wonderful. After all these years we have to admit you did an astounding job of portraying the character. Just excellent - well done! You have a wealth of pathos still in you. Marisa Tomei was the perfect counterpart, and you two worked the characters to the limit of the script - excellent performances. Thank you for taking on the roll; certainly some interior motives must have been churning before you made the decision to accept it. Your courage toward a continued acting profession is to be commended. Our best regards to you - and hope you'll consider future rolls beyond this one. Talk to your agent - and show him this post. ps/several members of our Fam's have watched the film - and agree

Comments: I'm the artist that made Mickey's pendant of Loki .  Great job on the site girls.  Mickey was kind enough to call me after he received the pendant.  He is a total gentleman and deserves all the accolades you give him. They don't make em' like him anymore. All the best.

Comments: Hello my name is Megan and I wanted to sign this guestbook to say thank you very much for making such a wonderful sight that shows the true portrayal of Mickey Rourke. I Too have always believed that he was a good man, he may have made mistakes but everyone makes mistakes, we're only human. I just wish to say that I have and always will continue to support him. If I could meet him I would be honest and say "thank you Mickey for the great movies you've made in the past" i don't really care that he doesn't have an Oscar, because I KNOW he will get one eventually. He is a deeply talented individual, who works hard and gives his all to his roles and I have always appreciated his old school out look on things, if only there were more men like that. In any case, i'm a huge fan and always will be, he is one of my heroes and is truly and inspiration to me because he's managed to be strong and find peace in himself to the best of his ability through all the terrible experiences. I can relate, I have known loneliness as well. I'm very happy for his dogs : ) my best wishes and luv to mickey and all his fans

My brother died March 21stWalt Poddubny, a hockey player in his younger years. The Wrestler was  his life, It was noted in a news broadcast the sad similarities. When I saw the movie last year, (my brother downloaded it before it came out,  miss those early viewings) I cried, and thought how this movie , this character you played, was his life. How right I was. He died four months later. Sorry about Loki, I also lost my Mojo ( one of my canine buds, ) two weeks after Walt died. Anyways,  the Wrestler and the music will always be close at hand. Been your fan a long time, good to see you back.

Comments: Hello there! I just found this site because i had a VERY STRANGE EXPERIENCE W  "RAM JAM" yesterday...Anyway...Here's my story---- Yesterday morning my husband and I were watching THE WRESTLER. We really liked it!!...and that afternoon went to Venice beach... As we were walking my husband (a chef from italy) was saying he never gets to see any stars...and i said, wouldnt it be funny if we saw RAM JAM walking on the beach. Of course we didn't see him...
But later that night...last night... I was having dinner with my husband and the head chef of Vincenti restaurant--- We were eating at Cecconi's on Melrose and Robertson... and as we were waiting at Valet...this really nice car rolls up...and a guy gets out w really cool pink shoes...I looked at his face and said MAN i must have that wrestler guy on the brain because he looks JUST like that guy...My cousin says... THAT"S MICKEY ROURKE from the WRESTLER...and i ALMOST DIED!!! I wanted so badly to go in after him and tell him about my strange coincidence...but everyone thought he'd think i was crazy and told me not to bother him.... BUT... of all the restaurants we could have chosen...to see him after i mentioned it earlier at venice beach?!...WAS WEIRD!! For the rest of my life I'll regret not having told him he did such a great job in that film...wow~~ and Tell him for me PLEASE about this crazy story!!! !!  I promise you I'm not a loon, I didnt really know who mickey rourke was besides his name of course until yesterday... I just cant stand regretting not pursuing such a REALLY STRANGE coincidence..you can tell my mind is blown!...Ok thanks for your time and Yes your site is really cool. i'm a singer in an all girl rock band, maybe the coincidenece is that Mickey rourke needs a band for a party or something?? who knows but i had to try....thanks again...rambling new fan...

Comments: Came home from being down in the valley all day watching all the critters and flowers play and a movie by you was on IFC-have seen it before=first saw you in 1994 after being intensive care for whatever and was at a friends house on Halloween night and the Last Cowboy or something like that was on so I watched and then checked everything out that I could find of your movies and they were good.  I don't watch tv much-I am an artist living on top of a mountain in a pretty remote place where there is not industry or pollution-just beauty.. I support most of your causes and more and have done a good job I think. I hope!!!!  Anyway I am a fan I guess and I wish you All good things.

Just saw The Wrestler on cable last night. If that wasn't an Academy Award winning performance then there never has been one. Complete bullshit that you weren't nominated.
